“August rain: the best of summer gone, and the new fall not yet born.” — Sylvia Plath
Here we are. School is in session, summer vegetables are being harvested, and mums are for sale at the farmer’s market. It is still hot, but the light has changed, so it’s easy to shift your attention to a new season. But, before you start drinking pumpkin spice lattes around the fire pit, there are some upgrades you might want to consider.
Here’s the take from Shenandoah Chic.
Patio power wash.

After summer rains that encourage moss growth and the usual spills, we power washed the patio. It will now be ready for next spring, and be an inviting space for fall entertaining. Who knew bricks could look so good!
Cushion redux!

The usual cushions on my patio have a summer theme (think red sailboats!), so I switched them for a more neutral colorway. The cushions were on sale recently at Walmart and Lowes. End-of-season sales are the best for updating your decoration inside and out.
Updated look.

Are you holiday ready? The fall season ushers in the entire cornucopia (pun intended!) of holidays. Now is the time to look around your house and see what needs recovering. Once fall is in full swing, most showrooms are too busy for additional orders.
Friday night lights!

Cooler temperatures are on the way! Light up the night and start entertaining.
