“To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” — Calvin Coolidge
Christmas is in two weeks – give or take a few days! In preparation for the festivities, Stephanie Feltner’s mom and I met in Fredericksburg for a road/shopping trip. We were greeted with beautifully curated shops, friendly residents and delicious eateries.
The Town of Fredericksburg was established in 1728 and named for Crown Prince Frederick, son of George, II. Strategically located at the fall line of the Rappahanock River, Fredericksburg slowly built a population of artisans and merchants, all contributing to its reputation as a bustling river port.
We found it to still be a vibrant, fun city full of hidden charms. Read on.
Lunch to a T.

This is definitely the place to eat lunch. Huge menu that will appeal to a wide variety of tastes. We both had the homemade soup which was divine. And, of course, dessert! You know a place is good when it is packed with locals.
European flair on Caroline Street.

Du Jardin, located on the City’s main historic street, is a collected mix of Eastern European home and garden items. It is curated to perfection; you will definitely want to leave with one of their signature toile gift bags.
Kitchen and things.

Who doesn’t love dancing Hershey kisses? The Kitchen at Whittingham had old fashioned animated windows. Inside, we found every possible kitchen gadget and an array of everyday serving dishes.
On every street corner.

The City of Fredericksburg displayed live trees on every corner; each were festively decorated!
‘Tis the season!

Deborah Carper and I have been best friends since we were five-years-old! At this season, as always, I wish you the gift of friendship. Better than anything you will find wrapped under the tree.
