“If it could only be like this always — always summer, always alone, the fruit always ripe.” — Evelyn Waugh
Summer is especially glorious in the Shenandoah Valley. The mountains’ dark green outline offers a perfect framework for a picture of bright flowers and colorful fruits and vegetables. Lucky for us, the Virginia Farm Market, just up the road, is known for seasonal fruit, local produce and quality baked goods. We visited recently and found lots of other things to be excited about as well.

The big red barn is a casual open-air market with easy access from the highway and offers free parking. The market began in 1952 as a family orchard and roadside market. It is still owned today by the fourth generation that gives back to both customers and community.
