“May you never be too old to search the skies on Christmas Eve,” Anonymous
What is your holiday style? You might be taking a much needed look at how you decorate for Christmas.
Here are some ways to change things up without losing what you have:
- Borrow a tradition from another culture and add it to your list. For example, the British always place “crackers” at each table setting. They are usually a small cone festively wrapped and stuffed with small trinkets. You could make your own and surprise your family and friends with a special British treat.
- How about your tree? Did you know that the color red we now associate with Christmas is actually the result of the Coca Cola advertisements in the 1930s? The pink tree pictured above is a fresh take on Christmas style (and color). Your presents would really sparkle underneath this gem.
- Bring in the natural world. Years ago, all you could buy were red poinsettias. Once a white was delivered to our home by mistake. My mother was instantly smitten and from that point on all we had were white ones! What do you have growing in your yard? Mix natural materials with an aritificial wreath or bough,
- Decorate like it is 2020. Use neutral tones and natural elements for decorations that will last into the new year. Consider it your nod to the Winter Solstice.
But, most importantly, believe in magic this holiday season! Santa is everywhere…
